Where did the name Buggles Come From?

The booklet for the CD remaster of their first album,The Age of Plastic, says that the origin for the band name arose out of a private joke between Horn and percussionist/keyboardist Geoff Downes, and was actually a pun on "Beatles". It was originally called Bugs, however extended to The Buggles when someone declared the Bugs would never be as big as The Beatles. The group are best known for their 1979 debut single Video Killed The Radio Star which topped the UK singles charts in 1979.

Horn and Downes joined progressive rock group 'Yes' who disbanded in 1981.
